Course Description:

Attention Riggers & Signal Persons...

New OSHA regulations starting November 10, 2018 require that all crane operators, riggers and signalpersons be certified. These intense workshops, taught by Southeastern Crane Academy are recognized by Crane Institute of America Certification, LLC an independent certifying organization providing OSHA and NCCA accredited certifications.

The rigger/signalperson course is a two day training program specifically designed to meet the OSHA 1926.1400 rule qualifying participants with knowledge of rigging gear inspection, proper rigging procedures, and load control using common rigging techniques involved in the Marine and Aviation Industries. The course will prepare students to pass the corresponding qualification exams.


Topics covered include:
• OSHA and ASME standards
• Hand and voice signals
• Rigging practices and procedures
• Proper use of taglines
• Pre-lift inspection of slings wire rope, rigging hardware and chain and lever hoist
• Knots used in rigging
• Basics of crane operations and limitations
• Sling angles and hitches
• Proper load handling procedures
• Hardware types and corresponding uses
