Coding for Outpatient and Professional Services
Students will be introduced to the medical coding systems utilized to report professional (physician) and hospital services within all healthcare entities where physicians and practitioners treat patients. Students will learn how to code using CPT (procedures), ICD-10-CM (diagnoses) and HCPCS (supplies) coding systems. Students will learn about medical record documentation requirements and various Electronic Medical Record systems used to document services rendered to patients, how to use various electronic encoder products used within the healthcare industry and how to comply with national fraud and abuse initiatives for all coding disciplines. The class will also touch on insurance and reimbursement methodologies.
Upon completion students may sit for any of the following National outpatient coding certification exams: Certified Professional Coder, Certified Professional Coder-Hospital, Registered Medical Coder, Certified Medical Coder, Certified Billing and Coding Specialist or Certified Coding Associate.
This class is perfect for those looking to advance their careers within the medical field and for those seeking to enhance their knowledge in current outpatient and professional coding services.
Registration fee includes all textbooks and materials, but it DOES NOT include fees to sit for the National Exam.

Instructor Daria Bonner, CHCA, CCP, RMC is the President & CEO of Xact Healthcare Solutions, Inc. She has more than 20 years experience in the medical coding, billing, compliance and health information technology and works in both the government (VA and DOD) and commercial sectors throughout the US and Puerto Rico. She has worked for numerous nationally known companies including Ingenix (now Optum), Quadramed (now Nuance) and Booz Allen Hamilton. Dari is a member of the American Academy of Procedural Coders (AAPC), American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), an Associate of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and a member of the Association of Healthcare Auditors and Educators. She has passed three of the four nationally recognized coding exams; Certified Professional Coder, Certified Professional Coder-Hospital & Certified Professional Coder-Physician. She also passed the Certified Professional Medical Auditor certification in 2011. Dari is a past member of the National Advisory Board of the AAPC, 1996 Networker of the year of the AAPC, and past President and founder of the Treasure Coast Chapters of the AAPC in Stuart and Port Saint Lucie Florida. She has been teaching and preparing students for National certification for more than 15 years and has a passing rate of 98% of over 800 students who went on to obtain their National certification.
